THE NEW CLEVELAND AQUARIUM CONCEPT
The Cleveland Aquarium, Inc. seeks to create a state of the art, nonprofit, conservational and educational institution for greater Cleveland. The appreciation and understanding of the world of water, and its impact on all aspects of our lives, are some of the primary educational goals of the Aquarium. Living in the Great Lakes Region, with a high percentage of the world's fresh water resources, has a twofold impact on the lives of area residents. First, we possess an affinity for water as a resource for fishing, boating and swimming. Second, we are, in a sense, guardians of one of our country's precious resources. A cutting edge aquarium is the perfect tool to make the connection between people and aquatic life, and to foster caring and creative solutions for conservation. The Aquarium will also help interpret Cleveland's "green" lakefront development, and the conservation of both shoreline and aquatic habitats.
To make this concept a reality, The Cleveland Aquarium, Inc. is comprised of a core group of trustees with skills in science, education, business, marketing, and law. We are local individuals with over a century of experience, much of it with the original Cleveland Aquarium, an institution that was lost over fifteen years ago. The advent of a coordinated process of lake-front development provides the opportunity to finally bring a public aquarium back to Cleveland.
The NEW Cleveland Aquarium, Inc. Will:
Be a self-supporting, nonprofit, 501 (C) (3) corporation largely funded by grants, donations, and admissions.
Our vision is to restore a missing piece of Cleveland's cultural heritage and to help ensure enhanced respect and stewardship of water and its inhabitants.
